Louise Mothersole is a performance artist working from London and one half of performance duo Sh!t Theatre. She also works in production and is a freelance sound & lighting technician and composer.
Her solo performance work is often autobiographical and explores different methods of storytelling. She utilises musical theatre conventions in order to subvert them whilst also using the genre to construct her own narrative and explore the textured layers of human experience. Louise Mothersole uses simple, home-made sets and costumes that imbibe a significance greater than their piecemeal appearance and likes to use projection to help transform any space into the worlds she creates through her descriptive imagery. She juxtaposes dark subject matter with comedy and song to create uneasy yet entertaining work that politicises the personal and the everyday.
